The Founders
Pastors Moses L. Colbert and Carolyn Tyson-Colbert saw a vision
almost four years ago to help a growing population of homeless
individuals, primarily men. It is through their love for God and
people that Faith, Hope & Love Transitional Program has grown to
serve hundreds of men. It is through faith, hope, and love that
these men go on to lead productive and disciplined lives after
graduation from the program into the Gaston community and
surrounding areas.
"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye
gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye
clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye
came unto me."
Matthew 25:35-37
History
Faith, Hope & Love Transitional Housing Program, a 501(c)3
non-profit agency, was born through a vision almost four years ago.
It's founders, Pastors Moses L. Colbert and Carolyn Tyson-Colbert,
studied the increasing rate of homelessness and lack of services in
the Gaston County area. The lack of services to assist these men to
re-enter the work force, provide education, re-unite with their
families and provide moral and spiritual growth, became not just a
vision - but a God given ministry. With this mission and the help of
a strong working board, Faith, Hope and Love Transitional Housing
Program began - with the focus on drug and alcohol addiction.
Based on the *'Point in Time Count
Survey', over 378 men living in the Gaston County area are homeless.
Of that number, over 300 are living in the streets of Gastonia. At
least 1/3 of that population are mentally ill and at least 50% are
substance abusers.
Our Mission
To provide an opportunity for men, and soon to women, who have
struggled with the disease of substance abuse addiction to learn
effective ways to deal with the challenges of life without the use
of alcohol and drugs
Furthering Our Goal
Join us in our efforts to end homelessness and bring life to those
who have lost hope.
